We’re interrupting our weekly newsletter message to give you permission to chill during this week’s heatwave. Unless you’re trying to qualify for the Olympics, there’s no reason to risk a heat stroke like Alicia Monson 🥵
Here are four tips to staying safe and cool during your workouts this week:
Get It Done Early: If you have to workout outdoors or in a space without air conditioning, try doing it early in the morning before temperatures begin to rise.
Wear Sunscreen and Light Clothing: Protect your skin with sunscreen and wear lightweight fabrics that wick away moisture.
Reduce Your Mileage: Planning to run 5 miles? Make it 2 or 3 instead. If you absolutely have to run long, hydrate with water and maybe even a sports drink to restore electrolytes.
Prioritize Fuel & Hydration: This is not the time to work through your lunch break. Give your body the hydration and nutrients it needs to function properly. If you don’t have enough energy, it will be even harder to run or work out in higher temperatures.
If you found these tips helpful, share them with a friend or directly to your Instagram Stories. You never know which one of your friends needs a friendly reminder.
P.S. We’re monitoring the weather and will keep you updated in the City Fit Girls' Facebook Group and Instagram about this Wednesday's Bridge Run to Franklin Fountain. As of now, the Bridge run is 100% optional and ice cream is 100% mandatory!
