Today was supposed to be the day that I shared our new podcast with you all. That won’t be happening but I promise it’s for a very good reason...
A few weeks ago, we told you about the Well City Challenge, a social impact challenge addressing Philadelphia’s millennial health challenges. Of the 100 ideas submitted during the open-call, our idea was 1 of 15 community solutions that were chosen to participate in incubator workshops and a pitch competition!
Over the past month, I’ve been spending most of my free time developing Strides, a new running-based fitness community to help millennials prioritize their physical and mental health. It’s going to have the community feel of run club but with the expert coaching you’d receive in a fitness class. Think - the fun and energy of a virtual treadmill class - but in real life, led by coaches in your community.
This week, we’ll be competing in a “Shark Tank” style virtual pitch competition (I’m not freaking out, you’re freaking out) and there are a few ways we can win:
1) The judges choose our idea and we win $10,000.
2) Our friends, family and City Fit Girls community can vote for us during the pitch competition and we win $7,500.
Oh and the third possible outcome is that we win both! We’re up against some incredible people and organizations who want to help improve millennial health in Philadelphia so we’re going to need your help.
Register for the Competition: This Thursday, March 4th, join us at the Well City Challenge Virtual Pitch Competition. The event starts at 5:15 and ends at 6:30PM EST. Please register in advance and spread the word.
, winning this competition could help us get Strides up and running. We’ll be using the funds to build out the Strides app (video content, etc), hire and train coaches/trainers, and take care of boring administrative stuff (insurance, advertising, etc.). If the pandemic continues to move in the right direction, we can have our pilot up and running by this fall!
Thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to "seeing" you on Thursday!
And just a heads up, we’ll be sending you another email about this later in the week as a reminder to vote so don’t be surprised when you hear from us again.
