Although we’re already four days in, there’s something about Monday that makes it feel like a real fresh start. How are you feeling? Ready to take on 2021?
Over the weekend, Kiera and I had a chance to chat about community and the impact that it’s had on us in 2020. I know what you’re thinking, “how could we have community during a pandemic?”
Well, prior to this year, I would have been the leader of the Anti-Virtual Anything Club. Virtual racing, workouts, and meetings were just things that “could never” work for me. Being a part of a community allows us to connect over ideas, shared interests and offers a sense of belonging. I thought that if this couldn’t happen in person, it couldn’t happen at all. I was wrong.
I’m very stubborn so even during the height of the pandemic, it took me a few months to allow virtual offerings into my life. But , I’m so glad I did because I NEEDED the small element of connection that virtual events and services had to offer.
Anyway, to answer your question, we both found community in ways that we never thought were possible. Kiera found community through her meditation offerings and I found community through Strength Club, our subscription-based training program.
In the spring, I began to host live Zoom workouts for Strength Club members. On Saturday mornings or Tuesday evenings, even for just one hour, we connected over our workouts and sweaty screenshot selfies.
I’ve been contemplating adding more Zoom workouts for Strength Club members - not only for the connection but for consistency, accountability, and value that we know group workouts have on our physical and mental health. But in the meantime, we’ll be connecting over Zoom on Tuesdays at 6PM EST.
So , even during the pandemic, I hope that you create or continue to expand on your community using the tools and resources that are available to you. Don't be stubborn like me.
If you’d like to learn about Strength Club, we just launched a new cycle today and we’d love to have you involved with our community. Once you join, jump in that chat and introduce yourself (trust me, it makes all the difference).
