A few weeks ago, we posed a question to our Facebook community - “would you be interested in a virtual race?” and your response was overwhelmingly, “yes”.
So, not only are we excited to announce that we’re hosting a virtual race this October, we’re excited to announce that we’re making it free to participate! Runners will have the option to upgrade their registration to include an official race shirt and training plan for a fee.
Why free? As always, our mission is to make running and fitness a more inclusive space. By offering free registration, anyone experiencing financial hardship will still be able to train for and celebrate their accomplishment with the City Fit Girls community.
That also means everyone will be eligible to participate in virtual activities leading up to the event and have a chance to win awards (provided by our friends at Philadelphia Runner) during race weekend - gift cards for best costume 🎃, most creative race course, and more!
A more inclusive space: We’ll be offering 10 first-time or beginner runners who are facing financial hardship and/or are underrepresented in running a chance to upgrade their registration free of charge. That means that if this is your first time running a 5k or 10-miler, we want to help lower the barrier to entry and make the training plan available to you. We’ll waive the upgrade fee and give you training support and a race shirt free of
charge. Details about the selection process are coming soon!
Save the Date: The City Fit Girls Harvest 5K & 10-Mile Run will kick off on October 30th and end on November 1st.
Location: Because this is a virtual event, you can participate from anywhere.
Let’s get this party started. Registration opens next Monday and training for the 10-Mile Race begins on Monday, August 24th.
Whether this will be your first 5K/10-Miler or your 10th, we can’t wait to run with you!
