Over the past four months, we’ve been social distancing and staying inside to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Some of us have been overworked at home while others may have unfortunately been laid off from their jobs. Financial hardship, taking care of our families, and checking in on loved ones may also be taking a toll on our mental and physical health. In times like these, we find ourselves doing so much for others that we tend to forget about our own
needs.Â
Â
, when was the last time you did something for yourself?Â
Â
As a trainer and running coach, I spend hours pouring into program design, research and trying workouts before assigning them to clients. As strange as it sounds, I often forget to make time for my own workouts. I've noticed that it's not just my workouts that are being pushed aside but just making time to do things I really enjoy.Â
Â
If you’ve also found it hard to make time doing things you love over the past few months, I want you to join me in blocking off at least an hour (or however much time you can spare) to do something just for you. Not just anything, but something you love that you haven't done in a while. Whether it’s reading a book with no disruptions, going for a hike, listening to your favorite album, drawing, etc., this week, let's focus on making time to do something for
ourselves.Â
