Good morning ,
Over the weekend, I attended yoga teacher training and we focused on trauma-informed yoga. It's hard to believe that I'll be a Certified Yoga Instructor in a few months. This training has pushed me to dig deep and think about how my practice has evolved. Although my motivations have changed, my why remains the same.
I do yoga for my physical and my mental health - it's a priority for me. It quiets my mind while awakening my spirit. And I promise to give my students the opportunity to experience the same.
I believe my mother's passing in 2008 could have been prevented if she had access to similar tools to help her navigate life's challenges. Yoga and meditation were not topics of discussion in my family, but suppressing our emotions and trauma were normal.
My practice became more consistent in 2017 when I felt like I wasn't living for me. I was seeking validation, self-sabotaging, and very ego-driven. Or at least, I finally accepted that these things were happening. I started noticing (accepting) that certain habits impacted my quality of life and it was a very stark reminder of my mother and her struggles.
I can honestly say I've seen tremendous growth. Consistency with yoga and meditation has improved the way I talk to myself, navigate challenges, and show up for others.
Do things get easier? No. Are you a saint for practicing regularly? No. But it can bring you back to your why, provide clarity in areas where you need it most, and give your attention to what truly matters.
, we've added a new section to this newsletter for your mindfulness and meditation needs. And when I'm done yoga teacher training, we'll roll out new offerings for you to enjoy.
