Good morning ,
When I took the 5 Love Languages Quiz a few years ago, I was not surprised that 'Words of Affirmation' was my preferred act of love. Hearing inspiration and encouragement from others really lights a fire under me and makes me feel like I can accomplish anything, especially when I am struggling. The problem was that I depended on others for affirmations in order to truly believe
in them.
It's great to hear affirmations from people close to you in relationships and at work. The opportunity to have someone show you things you may not see for yourself can be powerful. But what happens when they stop, you're alone, or the person is no longer in your life?
This motivated me to practice my own affirmations. I would wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and spend a few moments pouring positive thoughts into my mind and body. At first I didn't believe them, but I had to press on until I did. I had to start believing that I was deserving of the affirmations I was hearing.
, I noticed a shift when I stopped waiting for affirmations from others (I also no longer held them higher than my own). Saying affirmations to myself became a daily habit - like brushing my teeth.
This week's theme for my weekday meditation on Instagram Live is centered around this topic. My intention is to help you create (or maintain) the affirmations you say for yourself. Here are some from today's meditation below. Feel free to practice them at any time.
- I am and perceive love
- I am and perceive wholeness
- I am and perceive joy
- I am at peace with everything I have, everything I had, and everything I will have
- My creative potential is endless
- My healing is already in process
- I deserve to be loved and respected
- I am confident and my confidence inspires others
- My voice matters
, how does words of affirmation show up for you? Let me know by replying to this email.
