Happy Monday !
How are you doing this morning? During these uncertain times, it can feel like our days and emotions are all out of sorts. I know I've experienced a ton of emotions lately that I am still trying to understand. I find myself content one moment and then anxious the next - sometimes for no apparent reason at all.
Have you experienced this? If so, I'd like to invite you to try an exercise with me this week. Are you in?
First, let's start by naming our emotions. Use the following resources to learn how to identify your feelings, especially when navigating the pandemic.
Next, take about 1-3 minutes a few times a day to write how you're feeling in the moment. We tend to ignore emotions (especially when we are busy or if they hurt), but not this week. Instead, we're going to give ourselves permission to feel them, embrace them, and make peace with them. (You can use the Notes app on your phone)
At the end of the day, look at your notes and reflect on what you wrote. Did you notice any trends? Anything feeling really off? Below you'll find a few articles that I thought were helpful to learn how to sit with your emotions. Hopefully, you'll find them helpful too.
Remember, it's okay to have a lot of emotions about what's going on right now. Our lives have been turned upside down and it is absolutely okay to feel sadness, anxiety and grief. If you need to vent or have questions about this exercise, send me a note by replying to this email.
